A town of artists on the picturesque eastern coast of Istria
The hilltop town of Labin is located on the eastern coast of Istria at an elevation of 320 metres, only three kilometres from the sea. It was inhabited as early as the 2nd century BC.
The historic centre of the town has a specific charm and abounds in artists' studios. The best time of year to visit is definitely during the two-month Labin Art Republic Summer Festival of Culture and the Arts. The town's monuments and historic buildings are worth visiting as well, such as the town loggia, various palaces, and its 17th-century bell tower – the highest point of the town, which offers a spectacular view of Rabac and the Kvarner Bay.
The cycling trails in the surroundings of Labin will reveal to you the scenic landscapes, wine trails, history and ancient legends of this area. The nearby beaches at Rabac, with their pearl white pebbles and crystal clear sea, are regarded as the most beautiful in Istria, while the local restaurants, taverns and agritourism farms offer a fantastic culinary experience on the stunning eastern coast of Istria.
